The mild winter has meant that some plants are showing
blooms some weeks early this year...
Botanical Crocus blooms earlier than the Dutch Crocus
or the Woodland Crocus. On the left Crocus chrysanthus 'Ard Schenk' named after
the famous Dutch ice-skater. Snowdrops show their drooping flowers even when
there has been no snow. Cyclamen coum f. pallidum 'Album' have the distinct
purple spots at the base of the back-folded petals of this lovely woodland
plant.
