I wish everyone all the best for 2015, may your keen
eye reveal beautiful vista's in your future!
As the media ended the year with list after list, I
thought it would be nice to make a short list of the five most inspiring sites
I visited in 2014...
-5- Langwasser
(the Entlastungsstadt
of Neurenberg also known as the first "Trabantenstadt")
-4- Gardenvillages Amsterdam-North (including the Vliegenbos a
very rare elm wood)
-3- Gartenstadt Rüppurr (Unwinesque
urban design south of Karlsruhe)
-2- 't Kiel Antwerp (several gems
amidst the really ugly urban sprawl of Belgium)
-1- Nagele (the modernist new village built in the Northeast
Polder of Flevoland)
And finally a place I must mention as it completely
blew me away: Schlossgarten Schwetzingen,
a unique late-baroque formal garden built for the Elector of the Palatine by Petrie
von Zweibrücken with additions by Nicolas de Pigage which is incorporated in a romantic
landscape garden with follies and arboretum by Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell (who
also later designed the Englischer Garten
in Munich).
